Inspiration in the Studio

Beautiful Gallery and Beautiful Art(ist)

It’s a little past due, but I just had to share anyway….I recently attended the Artist’s Reception for my dear friend, Susan Hecht. The Perspectives exhibit was hosted by Art Source, a wonderful gallery located in one Raleigh’s hot spots, North Hills. If you’re in the area, be sure to take a few minutes to visit and enjoy.

Although Susan doesn’t believe it, I am truly one of her biggest fans. She paints because it’s her passion. She doesn’t compromise her values or allow her work to be commercialized (believe me, I’ve seen people try…including her husband). Each one of her paintings has a unique beauty and personality that only Susan can capture. Everyone should own a piece of original art that they love. It should inspire and bring joy….and lucky me to own several of Susan’s originals.

What a beautifully talented friend! Check out her work at www.susanbhecht.com.

There’s nothing like original art to personalize a home. And, there’s nothing like a friendship that encourages us to pursue our passions! Love you, Susan!

Paint Party to benefit the Durham Rescue Mission

Last week, our local ASID Design Community hosted a Paint Party as our holiday charity event. Of all the duties involved with organizing our Design Community, I have found that the events that give back to the community are most rewarding. Isn’t that what we are always told? Why, then, do we not do more of it?

Under the amazing guidance of Susan Hecht, our ASID members created beautiful themed paintings. The canvases will be hung at the Women’s Center at the Durham Rescue Mission. A fun-filled evening for a great cause….what a combination!

Angela Pence…it’s been an absolute pleasure for me to co-chair our ASID Design Community with such an incredible designer.

Next time you’re visiting historic downtown Apex, North Carolina stop in Studio 123 to visit!

It’s our hope that the variety of landscapes will bring peace to the Mission residents who are working through difficult times. The “wish list” at the Mission is long and it’s our hope that we can continue to fulfill their needs and bring a little joy all year long!

Summer Pleasures by Susan Hecht

Last weekend Dan and I had the great pleasure of traveling to Sullivan’s Island in South Carolina to attend the opening of an art show featuring my dear friend, Susan Hecht.  It was the first time I have been to Sullivan’s Island, but I certainly hope it’s not the last.  What a charming little seaside town!  The show, Summer Pleasures, was at the Sandpiper Gallery, a gallery which represents some incredibly talented artists.

There is no doubt that introducing a piece of gorgeous original art into a room will make an instant statement.  My recommendation is to only purchase pieces that you absolutely love, so they become part of your private collection and stay in the family for years.

A few pieces of Susan’s work….

Jeff and Lisa Sanderson joined us for the show and graciously invited us to stay at their Beaufort home.  I have had the honor of providing interior design for Jeff’s projects for many years.  His company, Whitney Blair, is one of the best home building companies in coastal Carolina (in my opinion, of course)!

Way to go, Susan!  I’m so proud of you and consider it an absolute privilege to be your friend!
