Inspiration in the Studio

Project Reveal Part I :: Charlotte Charm

It’s time to reveal Part I of our Charlotte Charm project!  Take a look as we unveil more spaces in this warm, cheerful home we designed with New Old Custom Homes. Collaboration with talented architects, builders, trades, and clients is what makes our job rewarding!

This mudroom is the perfect landing pad as you walk in the door.  Custom cabinetry design by the talented New Old boasts lots of storage space to minimize clutter, and charcoal tile flooring will hide dirt that may get tracked inside.

This office space is formal without feeling too stiff.  Large windows let in lots of light, and the standout driftwood chandelier is a main focal point.

Another bathroom, another statement wallpaper!  This feather pattern is a charismatic addition to this guest bathroom.

A clean, modern master bedroom is an excellent place to rest and recharge. Sometimes less really is more!

Last but certainly not least – the master bathroom!  Luxurious brushed gold hardware, plumbing, mirrors, and sconce are a glamorous accent to the white shiplap walls.

And that perfect freestanding tub to soak away the stress of a long day.

Although this home is simple and fresh, it’s character still shines through in all the details.  This is what we do best – creating a haven for special families.

We're Bringing a Southern Living Inspired Home to Life in Charlotte!

We are thrilled to announce that we will be designing Charlotte’s first ever Southern Living Inspired Home!

The home is being built by New Old, the award-winning Southern Living Custom Builder, in the Southern Living Inspired Community, Bramble. For many years Southern Living has served as the leading inspiration for the region, emphasizing the old and new traditions of the South. We are honored to partner with this talented team!

We love working with the best of the best. The New Old team thinks of everything, including these custom hard hats for their clients and homeowners. It’s the small details that make all the difference and this home will be filled with details as we bring together some of the finest trades in the Carolinas and beyond.

Our entire team has been working to bring this design to life. Is it a little stressful? Yes. Is there a little pressure? Yes. Do we embrace the challenge? Absolutely. Here’s a sneak peek of the main living space in the home!

We’ll be sharing our progress and behind-the-scenes adventures in the coming weeks. The doors of the Southern Living Inspired Home will be opening for tours on April 27, 2019 and we can’t wait!

Hot Off the Press! Southern Living Christmas Cookbook!

We are so excited to introduce the 2018 Southern Living Christmas Cookbook – complete with a feature page styled by Southern Studio Interior Design!   It is a treasure full of recipes, gorgeous images, and inspired tips for the holiday season and other special occasions throughout the year.

As a member of the Southern Living Designer Network, Southern Studio enjoys invaluable relationships with trailblazers, trendsetters, and icons in the design industry.

The Southern Living Christmas Cookbook benefits local chapters of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC®).  Over its 25 years of its support, Dillard’s has donated more than $14.1 million dollars to RMHC® and Southern Studio is so proud to participate this year.  It was such fun to style a beautiful Sunday Brunch and showcase our clients’ stunning breakfast room! (Have we mentioned we have the BEST clients?)

We hope you check out the cookbook for recipes, entertaining and decorating tips as you head in to the Holiday Season!

Thrilled to be Selected to Join the Coastal Living and Southern Living Designer Network!

We just returned from the first ever Coastal Living and Southern Living Designer Network conference in Nashville!  We were among the first design firms to join The Designer Network, a group of editorially recommended designers for readers of the magazines. What a weekend filled with some amazing talent!

The editors of both magazines were gracious with their time. It’s always interesting to see the “behind-the-scenes” work that goes into the publications. Meeting the other amazingly talented designers (and new friends) was a highlight!

The conference was a joint conference with the Southern Living Custom Builder Program. We are in the middle of designing two (yes, TWO) Southern Living Showcase Homes with Whitney Blair Custom Homes. It was great fun to have project meetings (and a lot of laughs) while in Nashville with our longtime buddies, Jeff and Lisa Sanderson.

The conference concluded with a fantastic evening with Nashville’s Finest Singers/Songwriters! Hearing the stories about how and when these songs were written and who decided to record them was so interesting. These songwriters have such passion for their work and somehow that passion tugged at the heartstrings of the entire audience (Allen Shamblin performed his song Send ‘Em On Down the Road that was recently recorded by Garth Brooks…an anthem for empty nest parents that perfectly sums up the past few years of my life and yes, brought me to tears).

Great things are happening and we’re thrilled for each opportunity! Look for more information on The Designer Network when it is announced in the April issues of the magazines. Special thanks to the Southern Living team that put together the conference (and Misty who went the extra mile to make it all happen)!

Let the Holiday Fun Begin!

This weekend I will begin planning the holiday festivities! Every year I make the same promise….keep it simple, focus on what’s really important, and enjoy the beauty of the season. With a calendar filled with appointments and projects needing attention, there’s not a lot of time for fussing this year (even though I really like the fussing part).

Southern Living has provided some great ideas for Christmas decorating on their website. They have managed to cover it all…trees, table settings, mantels, and even the front door! Be sure to check it out if you need some holiday inspiration too!

It’s time to turn on the Christmas music, bake a batch of cookies, and see the magic in the sparkle of the tree. Enjoy the moment!
