Inspiration in the Studio

Trending at High Point Market : June 2021

Our team made the short trip to High Point Market last week where we were able to pinpoint the latest trends in the home furnishings and decor industry, connect with our design family, and spend time with our trusted vendors that help make our job possible. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes to bring a beautiful design to life and we cannot wait to share a few favorites from High Point Market.

Inspiration to Innovation – “Market is a great place to strengthen relationships in the workplace and network with other design teams from around the county.  This is definitely my favorite part of market! The opportunity is so beneficial to our team and the nuggets of information are so inspirational. High Point Market is a must for our business and is a win-win all around (except for our tired feet!!!)” – Crista Davis, Studio Administrator

Wood Detailing – “So many fun wood details throughout market! We saw many showrooms with creative leg styles and incorporating wood into the overall design. A simple touch to elevate a classic silhouette!” – Paige Adams, Junior Designer

Sophisticated Upholstery – “I am always inspired by unique and unexpected upholstery details! I loved this striped contrast welt which elevated the feminine look of this Century bed.” – Annie Gray

Playful Patterns – “There were quite a few showrooms that combined multiple patterned fabrics on one piece which adds an unexpected detail to a simple piece. We are always trying to create one of a kind pieces for our clients so I can’t wait to apply this in an upcoming project!” Kayla Cook, Junior Designer

Outdoor Serenity – “We are so fortunate to experience the best our industry has to offer. The Verellen Showroom was filled with amazing energy in the most peaceful oasis!” – Vicky Serany, Founder + Principal

It is always refreshing to take a trip to High Point and we cannot wait to incorporate some of the latest finds into upcoming projects!

High Point Market :: Our favorite finds!

We are back from High Point Market and it was a whirlwind but a much needed design refresh! While it was vastly different from past markets, it felt good to be back!

We wanted to share our market round-up of what we saw that excited us most.

A great design is always grounded by a high quality rug and our friends at Nashville Rug Gallery did not disappoint! Elizabeth thought the new Oushak Kilims were perfect for soft yet colorful palettes.

Katherine Grace picked these lanterns from Ro Sham Beaux in a brass and copper combination – they came in many size and shape options!

We also stumbled upon some amazing accessories at Ro Sham Beaux. Crista loved these beauties and we think they are the perfect finishing touch for some of our coastal projects!

Kayla’s pick was in the Thibaut showroom. Thibaut is always a fan-favorite for unique patterns of wallcoverings and fabrics. This show was no different! In addition to their riveting pattern and color selections they have introduced a new trim line and we could not be more excited about it. Adding trim detail to any upholstered piece is a Southern Studio signature!

Haley loved the Laurent Bar in a Box from Century furniture! This bar cart is made with champagne shagreen embossed leather on a metal base and when it is not in use it looks like a large jewelry box!

This corner in the Arteriors showroom grabbed Paige’s attention! The various textures in the cubes and console but in a neutral color palette created an inviting corner!

Vicky’s top pick was this lush, deep sectional by Century. It was so large and comfy the team had to stop and kick back to soak it all in!

It was a great time back at High Point Market and we have missed shopping in person so much. We can’t wait to put some of our new finds to use in future projects!

Highlights from High Point (Part 3): Designer Details

At the beginning of 2012, we established some goals for our designs and decided we wanted to take the extra time and go the extra mile to pay attention to the details. Because, we all know, that it’s the details that make the difference. Check out some of our favorite upholstery details from market:

Unique nail head applications…

Double banding with coordinating fabrics…

Tape banding with jumbo nails heads spaced apart…

Wide accent banding on the skirt…

Tape details on pillows and cushions…

Combining beautiful materials and textures…

Details! Details! Details!  We love the options! It’s the beautiful details in life that make it all worthwhile. Enjoy…Vicky

High Point Highlights: Lovely Lilly!

This first post of High Point Highlights makes me happy! It is a special post for all of my favorite young people (well, younger than me anyway) who love Lilly Pulitzer!

HFI Brands launched the line of over 200 pieces that reflect the Lilly lifestyle. Without a doubt, the showroom was spectacular and well worth the visit. The walk over the bridge to the showroom sets the stage (I just love the character of the old buildings in High Point)…

This line works! I have no doubt we’ll be seeing a lot of it in the very near future.

High Point Highlights

Today was the last day of the Fall Market! For the past six days, all eyes of the interior design industry were focused on the latest and greatest products being showcased in High Point! As I write this, I’m resting my weary feet and reminiscing about all of the fabulous finds.

In the spring, I created a Top 10 for 2010 list of highlights!  This time I wanted to have a little more fun, so expect some posts on Brilliant Beds, Amazing Accessories, Opulent Outdoors, and Perfect Pillows!

First, let’s set the scene….buses and cars and trolleys help everyone navigate through the many showrooms.
