Inspiration in the Studio

Deck the Halls with Cary Magazine!

A few weeks ago, we decked the studio for the holidays to prepare for a photo shoot with Cary Magazine (click here to see post). Well, the holiday issue is out and we are honored to be included in the Deck the Halls feature. Check out Pages 61-63 for our thoughts on holiday decorating.

Bottom line is that your home at the holidays should be a place for family and friends to gather and enjoy the beauty of the season. Keep it simple and classic! It’s really the same philosophy we have year round….the holidays are just a beautiful reminder of the importance of home! Enjoy.

Holiday Greetings and Celebrations!

It’s been a festive week at Southern Studio! Holiday celebrations and preparations bring an excitement that only happens once a year.  Last night, our Southern Studio team (and our very significant others) celebrated the season and a wonderful year!

Wishing all of our friends and clients a holiday season filled with…peace and joylove and laughterfamily and friends!

And, the winner of our Interiors Southeast book should be receiving a package in the mail soon! Enjoy!

Merry Everything!

The holidays are filled with traditions and at our home they have become a priority. When my daughter, Jackie (now a 21 year old college student), was little we always hosted a Mother-Daughter cookie exchange and gingerbread house making party! I guess I’ve always appreciated great architecture, even when created out of candy. Well, take a peek at my kitchen last night…

Who ever said creativity wasn’t messy? 20+ kids/young adults arrived with dreams, plans and ideas for their miniature holiday creations! My son, Brian (an almost 18-year-old high school senior), decided that he missed out on all of the fun over the years and he wanted to participate too. Of course, making gingerbread houses wasn’t enough; it had to be a competition! Well, let me tell you, all of the winners…1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes….all went to the guys!

I (well, actually my husband) used to roll out all of the gingerbread into perfect pieces and I would make the perfect icing for the girls years ago. There was no time for that in 2010 and I’ve gotten over my need for holiday perfection (some would argue, but it is true). The fun must go on, so graham crackers and cans of frosting had to do. We ended with a village of adorable creations and lots of laughs! It was funny how the design process was almost exactly the same as what we do every day at Southern Studio!

Wishing each of you a Merry Christmas filled with special traditions! Peace, love and joy to all…Vicky
