Inspiration in the Studio

Great Gatherings in Triangle Home Design and Decor

Just in time for the holidays, Triangle Home Design and Decor magazine has chosen a Southern Studio project for the cover of the Great Gatherings issue and included a full feature of the home!  The 8000 square foot custom dream home (for amazing clients) was inspired by the family’s love of the Rocky Mountains and is full of classic architectural details and natural elements.  Sit down, pour some eggnog and enjoy the full article here!

Pictured on the cover is the oval dining room – the dramatic floor to ceiling windows allow a magical view of the peaceful property.

The natural elements of stone and wood help to make this family room a cozy space to socialize with family and friends.

Both functional and beautiful, this is a kitchen worthy of great gatherings indeed!

Tucked behind a pocket door, this stunning pantry effortlessly stores everything one could need for both day to day family life and large scale entertaining.

The magnificent patio features a fireplace for cozy winter evenings and an outdoor kitchen for year round fun.

Several years in the making, this home is ready for Great Gatherings with family and friends this holiday season!

Unique, Enduring, and Luxurious. Exactly!

As the weather finally turns cooler and our thoughts turn towards the holidays, we wrapped up the 2018 Southern Studio at Sunset series by welcoming Erin Weston of Weston Farms to lead an Antiquity Wreath Making Class.

It was such fun to fill the studio with clients and friends for a night of food, wine, laughter, and magnolias – what could be more Southern than that?!

Southern Studio loves to incorporate local artists into our designs. In 2002, Erin Weston relocated from NYC to her home state of North Carolina to become a farmer, combining her UNC Chapel Hill fine arts degree with the family business. Weston Farms now has more than 10,000 trees and their signature wreaths, garlands, and fresh Magnolia arrangements are shipped nationwide. Erin’s work has dazzled local markets, national interior designers and presidential florists alike, and has been featured on the cover of House Beautiful, in Southern Living Magazine, HGTV, Time Warner Leisure Channel as well on display at The NC Museum of Art. It was such a treat for her to share her talent and enthusiasm with us!  Erin’s vision to “grow a unique, enduring luxurious product on her family farm” is a perfect collaboration with Southern Studio.

After a brief demonstration by Erin in wreath making technique, we got to try creating a magnolia wreath to take home.  Everyone started with a huge bag of fresh magnolia, a wreath form, florist wire, clippers and varying levels of confidence to dig in.  And while every wreath was beautiful, each was just a little different.  Isn’t that fabulous?

Sipping cider, a pot of chili on the stove, pretzels, caramel corn, pumpkin cookies, and an evening of cheer made for a perfect fall night and a wonderful way to head into this season of hospitality.

Thank you to all who shared the night with us.  Here’s hoping all of our homes are filled with family, friends and laughter this Fall!

Happy Thanksgiving from Southern Studio

From the move to a new studio, to our trips back and forth to the Carolina coast, we are welcoming Thanksgiving with open arms – each of us looking forward to coming together with family and friends.

We want to thank our clients for giving us the opportunity to design their homes, creating meaningful spaces that they will enjoy for years to come. From the bottom of our hearts, we feel blessed to work with our clients each day, presenting details of their projects that ultimately sum up to full reveals. The joy on their faces, in turn, touch us – it’s why we love what we do.

We are also not only thankful for our clients, but those individuals we work with daily to make our clients’ plans come to life. Our community at Southern Studio is one we cherish and feel incredibly thankful to have.

From our home to yours, we wish all of you a beautiful Thanksgiving Day.

Work Hard, Play Hard

Last week, the Bald Head Island team headed to our new studio to co-host an evening of Oysters & Chili – a perfect way to kick off the beginning of November and toast our new outdoor space. Our professional and personal motto has been “work hard, play hard” for many years, and this event was a true testament to that mantra!

We loved sharing our new home with old and new friends while we shucked oysters, roasted marshmallows by the fire, and fixed chili bowls to our liking. Bald Head Island’s team spared no details to bring a taste of the island inland, making our guests and our own team eager for a trip to the coast.

Cheers from downtown Cary!

Welcome to Our New Home!

Exciting changes are happening at Southern Studio! At the beginning of the fall season, we moved to our new downtown Cary studio, a 4,200 square foot restored home built in 1951. We’re settling into our white brick nest on West Park Street, thrilled that we’re steps away from the heart of downtown. The home’s transformation now includes offices, a design studio, a showroom, client gathering spaces, and of course, a front porch complete with rocking chairs.

Last month, we hosted an Open House to celebrate our move and toast to our team’s hard work, our new neighborhood, and the opportunity to host community events right in our backyard.

We invite you to take a peek into our Open House!
