How do we begin to describe the behind-the-scenes happenings in the design studio? We dive deep with each client to understand their dreams, and then we allow the design to evolve until we bring that vision to life!
Today we’re sharing the complete transformation of a powder room.
This home was over twenty years old and needed a refresh. We worked together with our clients to plan a beautiful renovation. Although many rooms in the home underwent a drastic renovation, we don’t want the powder room to be overlooked! It started with a simple CAD elevation…
We selected a beautiful mirror with an etched star and a statement wallpaper to layer pattern and detail.
This powder room was completely spruced up. A vanity with soft details topped with quartz countertops brings an element of contrast, and the original hardwood flooring adds warmth to the overall palette.
The once lackluster powder room is now a charming space for guests to enjoy. We love the vision that was brought to life in this design!

One of our talented designers will consult with the kids and teens…help pick paint colors, new bedding from online retailers, rearrange bedrooms, create unique storage solutions, design gallery picture walls…whatever may inspire them while they are at home.
We will follow up with design recommendations (these can be very budget friendly) from retail sources and paint colors.

As we are nesting in our homes, it’s the perfect opportunity to tackle those home improvement projects. Our team understands color. Everyone has a favorite space for the family to hang out. Whether yours includes X-Box, Ping Pong, or now needs to accommodate home school activities, we can help. One of our designers can brainstorm solutions for space planning, storage dilemmas and multi-purpose activities. We will follow up with design recommendations, working with pieces you already have while incorporating budget friendly ways to self-implement a refreshed space for the whole family.
Design Dilemma Consultations
Week of April 27
Tuesday + Thursday Afternoon
What’s your design dilemma or one thing that you’ve been struggling with in your home? It’s probably become more of a sore spot now that you’ve been working from home for a couple of weeks. Time to stop biting your nails over it, and schedule a phone consultation with one of our designers to talk through the issue. We’ll gather all the details and question why it’s been a challenge, while providing some creative talking points and potential solutions to ease the burden.
We recognize that these are tough times and we want to be part of the solution. Our team has pulled together and committed one hour of volunteer service to our community for every consultation we schedule throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. We are continually amazed by the charitable work of our clients and it’s always been part of our mission to support those efforts. We look forward to now taking that commitment a step further.
When we all return to normal (and we will), the home projects will be complete, all while keeping the family focused on something creative and positive during an incredibly challenging time.

The responsibilities and processes required to execute each project range from administrative to creative; from gritty to glamorous; from tedious to momentous. We dive deep with each client to understand their dreams, and then we allow the design to evolve until we bring that vision to life!
Today we are sharing the evolution of one client’s fireplace wall – from concept to reality.
We often work with builders and architects throughout the plan development phase of a project. We then move to space planning and furniture layouts. Our client was presented with three options for the living room in the these CAD plans.
The architectural details can make all the difference in a custom home. In this project, the fireplace was the focal point of the living room, so it had to be special. The design included built-in bookcases, cabinets with decorative hardware, and statement wall sconces.
After more decisions than we can count, we think the design evolved beautifully!
The greatest reward is seeing the look on a client’s face when their vision becomes reality. We are so grateful for clients who trust (and enjoy) the design process!

The home is being built by New Old, the award-winning Southern Living Custom Builder, in the Southern Living Inspired Community, Bramble. For many years Southern Living has served as the leading inspiration for the region, emphasizing the old and new traditions of the South. We are honored to partner with this talented team!
We love working with the best of the best. The New Old team thinks of everything, including these custom hard hats for their clients and homeowners. It’s the small details that make all the difference and this home will be filled with details as we bring together some of the finest trades in the Carolinas and beyond.
Our entire team has been working to bring this design to life. Is it a little stressful? Yes. Is there a little pressure? Yes. Do we embrace the challenge? Absolutely. Here’s a sneak peek of the main living space in the home!
