Yesterday, Martha and I, along with designers from our local ASID Design Community, volunteered as elves at InterAct of Wake County. InterAct is a private, non-profit, United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.
This Saturday, all of the mothers and children that InterAct serves will visit the workshop for a day of celebration and shopping. As you can imagine, this year the need is greater than ever and donations are down.
We spent time organizing and counting the gifts for the children. Check out the game of baby doll Jenga were were playing (one wrong move and that stack is going down).
Unfortunately, the gifts for the older children are seriously lacking. The table for the girls and boys ages 7-13 need some serious help.
There is not a lot of time, but please consider making a donation. If it makes it easier, we will be happy to pick up your contribution (cash and gift cards are welcomed too) and deliver them to InterAct by Friday morning. InterAct has published a list of the most popular items and you can find it here. Hopefully, our small contributions will help brighten the day of the 107 families and almost 250 children that InterAct serves.
